Time to Resurrect the Blog?

by admin on November 19, 2016

Ok, it’s been a while.  And it’s not you, it’s me.  Life kinda got in the way of long haul travel and for the past couple of years I’ve been making do with short trips to Europe.  I know, travel should be more about the experience rather than the trip but I’m afraid I just can’t get excited about taking an EasyJet flight to Switzerland and wandering around the flavellas of Geneva.  The sights, sounds, smells just don’t compare with meandering round the back streets of Rangoon.

But I’m pleased to say that there’s a long haul to New Zealand on the horizon for 2017.  And having to fly so far, it’d be a pity not to try some other, new destination in that neck of the woods.  Papua, Indonesia, Tasmania?

Hello Skyscanner – I’m on my way to do some flight research.

Croco2

Ok, not something you expect to see in Edinburgh, especially in the Charlotte Square water feature.  But hey!  Global warming is going to bring us a lot more exotic wildlife.

Foreign Food – It’s Just Not The Same

June 15, 2010

On my trip to New Zealand my hosts were very hospitable and looked after me very lavishly. They produced a fantastic roast dinner when I arrived and served up a joint of hogget. Hogget is sheep and best described as being older than lamb but younger than mutton. We don’t eat it much in the […]

Snow Shoe Virgin

March 30, 2010

I don’t ski.  I’ve never skied.  I’d like to ski.  I’d like to snowboard even more but I don’t want to learn.  I don’t want to spend time on nursery slopes falling over and looking stupid, or, even worse, wondering if I’m wearing the right salopetts, gloves, boot, bindings etc.  Even more worse I don’t […]
